The DPF-delete and you!
The DPF-delete and you!
Everything we're about to talk about in the next couple of hundred words or so is 100%, completely, totally, entirely, absolutely not street-legal in the United States of America or most other First World civilizations as a whole. Stage 3 Off Road only condone the use of the following kits for track and off-road use. Anyone who uses any of these systems on the street for everyday driving is not on our team and we waggle our fingers and frown at thee. The EPA and/or CARB will do worse.
That being said, who wants more power and better fuel mileage out of their Powerstroke? Just about everybody is generally the answer.

DPF-delete kits are currently one of the most controversial aftermarket performance modifications on the market for light-duty diesel trucks. Basically all DPF-delete kits offer excellent horsepower gains and can add up to 5mpg onto your truck's fuel economy. The giant issue that has caused several Federal and state environmental agencies up in arms stems from the fact that diesel exhaust contains several known carcinogens within its soot and particulate compositions that the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is designed to capture and safely burn off. The DPF is a Federally-mandated piece of emissions equipment as part of the Clean Air Act of 1970 and its following revisions, making it illegal to remove on street-driven diesels. The Environmental Protection Agency has been steadily increasing enforcement of emissions-related issues over the last few years and improper users of DPF-delete kits have been a prime target, as well as manufacturers, retailers and tuners for DPF kits. The downside of protecting the environment and the public from an agonizing, premature death is that diesel engine performance suffers greatly because of the increased back pressure and general inefficiency of current DPF systems, robbing your truck of power and mileage. So, in summation: DPF-delete kits are only for off-road use, but turn your truck into a powerful fuel-efficient monster.
DPF-deletes kits, at their most basic, are straight-through exhaust pipes that run from the engine's exhaust manifolds to the exhaust tips without being interrupted by the DPF and catalytic converter. The DPF and catalytic converter are usually manufactured as a single unit before being installed at the factory and removing the entire unit frees the whole exhaust system from back pressure. DPF-delete kits are available with mufflers or without that produce different and varying levels of sound. All of our DPF-delete kits come with bungs for the factory oxygen sensors and will require tuning in order to not throw a check engine light. Sadly, many tuners are no longer providing calibrations for DPF kits and you may have to go to a local dyno or speciality tuner. We carry a variety of DPF kits built for all of Ford's 6.4L and 6.7L Powerstroke engines for 2008 and onward F-Series trucks.

Because of all of the regulations regarding DPFs, they can only be used on closed tracks or open track events sanctioned by an official racing body. However, a DPF kit will greatly enhance track performance whether you're drag racing, pulling, off-roading or any other type of truck competitions off of public roads. DPF-deletes are extremely effective at boosting horsepower, torque and mileage, but until more effective emissions-limiting technology or cleaner diesel engines become available, the average daily driver is stuck with his DPF, catalytic converter and EGR. For road racers and competition drivers, a DPF-delete kit may be your winning ticket.
