Ford Powerstroke exterior styling options
Trucks and sexy good looks generally don't go hand-in-hand, unless you're into that sort of thing. The very word ''truck'' is one of raw utility where you use your truck to truck truckloads of truck stuff, and now the word both looks and sounds funny. Ford did an excellent job of building their Powerstroke pickups to be useful, tough and utilitarian, but it's no Ford GT or Mustang with sweeping lines and graceful curves It's a pickup, and it's built to withstand punishment and dish it out in equal measure, which is why it's shaped roughly like a brick. That being said, there's many ways to make your truck look less brick and more aggressive monster. Stage 3 Off-Road carries loads of exterior accessories that add unique styling elements to your Super Duty and make it something truly awesome and unique, and maybe even slightly less brickish.
Throwing a new hood on is one of the most popular avenues for Stage 3 Off-Road's customers, and our selection of hoods from Cervini's Auto Design fly off our shelves before we can even set them down. Cervini's has two different types of Super Duty hoods: cowl and ram air. They provide a 3'' cowl hood for 1999 to 2007 F-250s and F-350s and a 2.5'' cowl hood for 2008 to 2010 trucks. The cowls not only give a mean, new look to the front chassis, but also function as a heat extraction system. Warm engine air rises up into the cowl and flows out two mesh vents near the windshield and exits into the truck's slipstream. Cervini's ram air hoods for 1999 to 2007 and 2008 to 2010 give the truck wickedly awesome and huge frontal hood scoops that look like jet intakes. The hood for the older 6.0L trucks can be outfitted with Cervini's own ram air intake kit that includes a complete K&N cold air intake that makes the hood a fully-functional air system by routing cool outside air to the intake filter via a series of ducts. The kit has been show to give up to a 20 horsepower bump in total output without the need for tuning.

The sides of your average Super Duty pickup are fairly bland with blank paneling from the headlights to taillights. EGR USA makes an excellent effort to fix that little problem with their aggressive fender flare designs. These flare kits install without drilling and made entirely of UV-resistant ABS. Each flare is studded with stainless steel bolts that give them a factory bolted-on appearance. The surface of each flare is lightly textured and fits in perfectly with nearly any paint color, styling theme, or truck look. If the bolted look isn't for you, then our good friends over at Team Xenon have flares for trucks with one-tone paint and two-tone paint that have more elegant and smooth slopes than EGR's designs. Best of all, Xenon's flares are made of high-quality urethane, making them tougher than ABS flares and allowing them to be painted any color you want. Adding a set of side steps or nerf bars to your Super Duty is another excellent way to make your truck look unique while adding more utility and making it easier to get in and out of lifted trucks. Owners of older Powerstrokes are usually pretty envious of the vented fenders of the latest generation of 6.7L trucks. Luckily Rolling Big Power has you covered with their selection of appearance fender vents for 1999 to 2010 Super Duty pickups. These easy stick-ons install with double-sided tape, but are nearly indistinguishable from the real deal.

Let everyone know that your truck is special when they look in their rear-view mirrors with our inventory of accessories for the front of your Powerstroke. Our most popular items for the front end of Super Dutys are aftermarket grilles, with some of the best and most aggressive designs going to Rolling Big Power with excellent grille selections like their RX-II grille series. Carriage works also offers a few low-priced alternatives. If you're going for an aggressive off-roading look with your truck, then check out Smittybilt's light bars. These bars can mount several high-powered off-road lights and give the front of your truck a trail-ready appearance. New headlights are a very popular choice for our Super Duty customers, and many Powerstroke lighting options are covered in another of our informative articles.

So that leaves the rear of your truck. One of the best investments you can make is a Truxedo tonneau cover that keeps debris out of your bed, keeps loose items from falling out, and cleans up the overall look of your truck. Each cover is pretty easy to install, depending on the specific model, and are designed to fit 6.5-foot beds and full 8-foot beds of F250s and F350s. Small bits like an RBP hitch cover are good options for adding small touches of unique styling. One the most aggressive upgrades you can make to your truck are stacks. Stacks are exhaust piping kits that redirect your exhaust system up through your bed to exit piping that sticks straight up in the air like big rigs or tractors. MBRP's stacks are full turbo-back systems that delete your catalytic converters, diesel particulate filter (DPF), and mufflers for huge sound gains, but may not meet emissions guidelines in your area and are for off-road use only. Pype's Exhaust also manufactures stack kits that simply consist of the stack mechanism itself, allowing you to use them with whatever exhaust system that you need to pass emissions and stay street-legal. You can read more on the DPF systems of these trucks in our DPF-delete article.

One thing we purposely didn't mention is wheels and tire options, which we went over a few weeks ago in another article that also covered sizing and important wheel specifications that need to be taken into consideration. Lift kits are another good option for Ford Super Duty pickups, and more information on some of their specifics can be found here. We hope you're all set now. Some of these upgrades aren't exactly cheap, but they're often worth the price to have the most aggressive and unique Powerstroke on the road, while maintaining its usefulness as a full-sized truck.
